Important User Notes:

1.  REACH helps you type faster and more accurately.  It runs in MS Windows 98, 2000, XP, and Vista (Windows 95 and NT are not supported in Version 5) and works in conjunction with other programs such as word processors, web browsers, databases, spreadsheets, etc.  When you first run REACH you also must open another program so you can type into it with a REACH keyboard.

2.  This demo software comes with the entire REACH User's Manual in PDF format.  You will find the User's Manual in the REACH Interface Author 5 program group (click the Windows Start button, select "All Programs," and then look for the REACH Interface Author 5 program group.  It also has an excellent Help system.  To get help, click the Help option on the REACH Menu Bar.  If you are not familiar with REACH, try selecting the "Getting  Started " help option.  If you have a specific question, try selecting the "How Do I..." help option.

3.  When you first start REACH, you are asked to select a keyboard theme.  There are several to pick from.  The fully functional "REACH Sound-It-Out Phonetic Keyboard™" optional add-on is available in this demo.  There are three phonetic keyboard themes available so you might want to try picking one of them.  After you select a theme, you are taken to the "Home" keyboard for that theme.  You can use this Home keyboard to move to other representative keyboards.  At any time, you can return home by pressing the "Home" button on the REACH Button Bar.  If you want to try another theme, press the "Change Home Keyboard" button found on any Home keyboard, and select another theme.  To start typing, make sure you have a word processor or some other application loaded, move to one of the "Typing Keyboards", and start typing.

4.  Each time you start this REACH™ demo you will be given a chance to select which (if any) of the three major "add ons" you want to try.  Those add-ons include "Smart Keys™," "Smart Lists™" (Patent Pending), and the new "Sound-It-Out Phonetic Keyboard™" (Patent Pending).  If you select the "Smart Lists" add on, it initially is set to move from the keyboard to a list format early in the word.  This approach is very good for persons using scanning.  If you are using point and click (e.g., with a mouse), you might want to stay on the keyboard longer (e.g., using Smart Keys) before you move to a list.  It is a good idea to go to Settings, then "Point and Click" and try different Smart List settings to see what you prefer.
